Watch. Connect. Read.: Hilo Book 1: The Boy Who Crashed to Earth by Judd Winick

I predict Hilo: The Boy Who Crashed to Earth is going to be one of the top circulating graphic novels in school libraries around the country.

Judd: And I appreciate the note of confidence! How solid have your prognostications been in the past?

I love Hilo. There are probably all kind of great educational, artistic and generally noble reasons to like Hilo but it’s just great fun to read. That little piece right there has always been the thing that makes me a reader of comic books. They’re fun. So here’s the thing. I hope you’re really working hard Hilo Saving the Whole Wide World cause at 70 years old my shelf life is getting a little suspect. I really don’t want to mess up the whole after life routine trying to get back to buy Hilo 2. Bugs Bunny, Donald Duck and lots of other “funny books” hooked me way back then and I’ve loved the format ever since. Hilo is my first taste of your work and he’s great. I’ll read the rest of your stuff while waiting for the world to get saved.

    Thanks for what you do,
